Royal harpist to perform at Auckland Castle

A concert organised by Bishop Auckland Music Society will see a royal harpist perform at Auckland Castle.

Claire Jones will perform at Auckland Castle

Claire Jones performed at Buckingham Palace immediately after the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge earlier this year.

The event will take place in the throne room of Auckland Castle on Friday, 9th September at 7.30pm. Auckland Castle is known for its ancient gardens and historical adjacent deer park, providing a setting which can “more than compete with the Palace”, explain the society behind the event.

The Official Harpist to the Prince of Wales will be joined by Anna Harpham (viola) and Jenny Doyne (flute). They will present a programme of trios, duos and harp solos, including Aquarium and The Swan from Carnaval des animaux by Saint-Saëns.

Claire is a graduate of the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music and encourages youngsters to take up the harp through workshops at schools.

Tickets are priced at £12 (concessions £11), and are available by contacting Brian Varley on 01388 606075.

Bishop Auckland Music Society has been organising concerts at Auckland Castle for almost 20 years.
