Funny Business at Stanhope hall

Show and circus skills workshop in Weardale

A show packed with chaotic clowning, dazzling juggling, unicycling, and magic and audience participation with a hint of danger is coming to a church hall in Stanhope.

Award winning double act Circus Berzercus have been likened to Morcambe and Wise, with the addition of circus skills.

Funny Business is a sequel to the show A Komedy of Errors and sees Gerald, despite misgivings, deciding to take on Wallace, a hapless circus trainee, as a permanent juggling partner.

The show also includes illusions and a glow in the dark section.

Funny Business is touring with the support of Northumberland’s touring scheme, Highlights, and will be showing at village venues in the North East.

Sarah Haynes, promoter at Stanhope said, “We are thrilled to be able to bring a little magic and mayhem to our village hall. Circus Berzercus will also make a performance out of our raffle draw in the interval and we’re all looking forward to a fun and entertaining night out. I’ve seen them perform twice before, and they’ve left me weak with laughter. I can’t wait to see them perform in our newly refurbished Church Hall”.

Circus Berzerkus will also host a circus skills workshop in the church hall during the parish Halloween party between 2pm and 4pm. The party is free to all, with chances to learn to juggle and a mask making competition.

The show starts at 7pm on Saturday, 29th October, at t Thomas’ Church Hall, 40/42 Front Street, Stanhope, Weardale, DL13 2UE.

Tickets are available from the Weardale Hub (01388 529500) or Sarah (01388 528673), priced at £7 for adults, £6 for concessions, 15 years and under £4.50 and £18 for a family.
