Regular Weardale Railway event not rained off

The 1940′s war time era has returned to Weardale for one weekend.

Trains are running all weekend between the Weardale Railway station in Bishop Auckland and Stanhope, taking in Wolsingham and Frosterley on the way. Military vehicles, re-enactors and dioramas, living history groups and fashion shows have also been organised.

Camouflage face painting will be at Trimmers on Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland on Saturday. For £1 anyone who has their face painted will be entered into a prize draw for a free family rail ticket and entrance to the event in Stanhope, leaving Bishop Auckland station at 1pm.

The 1940′s celebrations continue into the evening with a dance.
