Bishop FM is a community radio station set up in Bishop Auckland to meet the needs of local residents. Run entirely by volunteers, the station completed a four week trial on FM in 2007 and has been awarded a five year FM community radio license by Ofcom. Bishop FM will provide up to date news and information, feature local bands and specialist programming all tailored to South West Durham.
Programmes
By concentrating on content produced by local people for local people, we can offer a service that would not be viable for a commercial station. Our station aims to promote local matters, including the work of local artists, bands, musicians and singers. Specialist programming will include rock, standards, country, folk, brass and military, film scores and classical. Mainstream programming will encompass music from the 1930's to the present day. The station will also provide in-depth coverage of local issues, unavailable on any other station serving the area. Community reporters will ensure that the station becomes an essential link between organisations and listeners.
