Commercial Sales Manager Vacancy (commission only)

105.9 Bishop FM is a community radio station based in Bishop Auckland, and broadcasting to the former local authority districts of Sedgefield, Weardale and Wear Valley with a population of around 80,000. We are a not for profit organisation, and under the terms of our broadcast licence we are entitled to raise 50% of the funding we require to run the station from commercial advertising and sponsorship contracts.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Sales Manager to be paid on a commission-only basis to:

• market our station to prospective advertisers and sponsors
• negotiate sales deals (within delegated authorities)
• organise script-writing and production of adverts with our out-sourced production companies in line with the rules established by our regulator(s)
• work with the station’s Technical Support to ensure that advertisements are played out as required
• work with station Presenters to ensure that sponsorship messages and competitions are run as required and in line with rules established by our regulator(s)
• work with the station’s Finance team to ensure that customers are appropriately invoiced and income is receive

Volunteer Marketing Director Vacancy (Unpaid – with an anticipated commitment of 3 hours per week)

We are seeking a Volunteer Marketing Director to work with the Board of Directors to:

• promote station activities and events
• raise our profile with prospective listeners and advertisers
• manage the work of the Commercial Sales Manager
• ensure compliance with the rules of our various regulator(s) in all of our commercial activities with advertisers, sponsors and business partners
• perform listener surveys to determine our listener profile and to determine whether our station output remains relevant and attractive to listeners, whilst still maintaining our licence commitments
• represent the station at various community events, as required from time to time
• handle media enquiries and press releases on behalf of the station.
