All About Lee

Name: Lee Brownson

Place of birth: Bishop Auckland General Hospital way back in 1977

Favourite place: St Maarten one of the islands in the Caribbean.

Occupation: Entertainment Officer / Youth Staff for P&O Cruises

First record you bought: Partners In Kryme – Turtle Power in 1990. I think I still have it somewhere in the house.

Best thing about your show: don’t really know that’s a hard one, maybe the listeners will tell me.

Person you would most enjoy being stuck in a lift with: Shania Twain (yeah that’s right so I can listen to her sing to me (!) that’s all.

Where you are when you get most of your inspiration or creative thoughts: drunk in the pub or when I’m dreaming in my sleep.

Where you go for quiet moments: out in the car to the countryside or beach depending on the weather

Memories of teachers at school: I was a good lad at school and all the teachers liked me (well I think they did)

Any habits, annoying or otherwise: singing badly or laughing constantly. Sneezing rather loud frightening everyone else!

One item you could not live without? My wallet

What would you do with £100 million pounds? Travel the world, give loads to my family and closet friends, live somewhere nice and hot, buy a executive box at Liverpool Football Club, ask the queen if she needs a loan and visit a real chocolate factory where I can eat as much as I wanted.

What is your biggest dream? Dreams never come true so I don’t see the point in having them really

Who do you admire most?

People who achieve what they want starting from the bottom and working up, not been given it from “rich” parents or relatives.

What inspired you to be involved in Bishop FM? Always loved radio since the aged of 14 when I first did a show at King James School. Thought the idea of having a radio station in my local town was brilliant and that I would love to be a part given my life of helping out the community

What day and time can we hear you?: Monday to Friday's 4pm till 6pm for the Drive Time Show, Saturday afternoon's 2pm till 6pm for Saturday Sport (With Tom, Paul and Steven), Saturday evening 9pm till 10pm for "Back to the 80's"

A little background

I've been involved in radio since the age of 14 when I first did a 20 minute show on King James School Radio back in the early 1990's. I then joined Auckland Hospital Radio in 1995 and during my time I was a member of the committee and had the role of Programme Controller and Secretary.

In 1999 I went to Sunderland University and completed a degree in Media Production and during the 3 years I did several shows on Utopia FM. I have also been a DJ for over 10 years and have worked in most pubs in Bishop Auckland from Lennons to Harveys (what is now Monaco's!!) I’ve also spent 6 years working as a DJ @ Tall Trees nightclub in Yarm.

Now I am working for P&O cruises as an Entertainment Officer where I am involved in doing the radio, quizzes, hosting of events and even read out the bingo numbers! Usually I work 6 months away and have 2 months leave. I've been to many places in the last 12 months which include Spain, South of France, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Barbados, Jamaica, Antigua and the Caribbean.

My music taste varies depending what mood I'm in. I can listen to anything from Elvis Presley to Westlife, Frank Sinatra to Shania Twain.

Also in the last 10 years I've done a lot of community work in and around Bishop Auckland and some of the organisations I've been involved with include:
