National Road Safety week

Monday, 19th November, 2012 - 9:00am

In conjunction with the Bishop Auckland Fire Service / Halfords and many other partner agencies

19th – 25th November 2012
Road Safety Week is organised by Brake, the road safety charity, but is a community event open to all, with thousands of participants including schools, companies, emergency services, and community groups. Road safety is a community issue. Dangers such as fast drivers and lack of safe crossing places for pedestrians blight communities across the UK and cause carnage, particularly among children, young people and the elderly, awareness will be highlighted around parking at school entrances etc.

For full details visit the website, your local Fire Service or Halfords for full details

The Fire Service will Run awareness-raising ‘crash extrications’ and raise funds for Brake
Deliver Brake’s 2young2die campaign to young people in schools and colleges and young colleagues details will be released as we have them.

The idea is to also raise awareness concerning winter safety. Being prepared for journeys, have you a blanket, shovel, hot drink etc in your car? are your tyres correctly maintained? Have you antifreeze in your screen wash. Being prepared is vital in winter.
