ARMED FORCES DAY EVENT

Saturday, 29th June, 2019 - 9:45am

Ferryhill Town Hall

To mark Armed Forces Day a special flag raising event will be taking place in the grounds of Ferryhill Town Hall at 9.45am on Saturday 29th June 2019, which is the Official Armed Forces Day. Residents are invited to congregate at 9.30am in the Town Hall gardens ready for a speech by the Town Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Joe Makepeace and a service at 9.45am by Reverend Janet Titterton, who will be representing the Methodist Church. The flag will be raised by Retired Major, Alan Brunskill to the sound of the bugle played by Ex Bugle Major Garry Suggett and will be followed by a two minutes silence. The flag will be flown in unison with other flags being raised across the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Isle of Man in a universal show of support, honouring Britain’s Armed Forces past, present and future, and marking a moment in history that will long be remembered with warmth and pride by the men and women who make up the Armed Forces. Following the raising of the Armed Forces Day Flag, tea & coffee will be served in the Town Hall, and the event will move to the Market Place Car Park where there will be stalls raising money for Care for Casualties and Ferryhill Remembers, activities by the Ferryhill Scouts, a climbing wall and bungee trampolines, as well as free face painting.
