North East Dance Company commemorates the suffragette anniversary with powerful dance performance Deeds not Words

Deeds not Words is the latest work by North East based dance company, Abbott Dance Theatre, and it marks the 100 year anniversary of the Representation of People’s Act established in 1918 where some women over the age of 30 won the right to vote in the UK. Artistic Director Kristin Kelly Abbott has been the driving force behind this powerful and beautiful piece, highlighting the harsh realities of the suffragette movement.

Alongside the professional dancers, Deeds Not Words will feature choral music by Morpeth-based community female choir Werca’s Folk and community dance group for the over 50’s – Dance for Fun.

Deeds Not Words will be premiering at Dance City on Saturday 24 November. Tickets £13.50, £11 concessions, £8 students. Advisory age 11+ due to some distressing scenes. Find out more and book your tickets at www.dancecity.co.uk or contact the ticket office at info@dancecity.co.uk or 0191 261 0505.
