Christmas light switch-ons announced in County Durham

It’s almost time for the festive events and Christmas lights switch-ons in County Durham. We’ve rounded up the details for the switch-ons here.

Bishop Auckland

The Christmas lights switch-on will be held on Friday 29th November from 4pm in the Market Place in Bishop Auckland.

The event will include a market, stage show, the Christmas lights switch-on and festive fun. 4pm to 6pm. More details to be announced soon.

Crook

A winter light parade and Christmas lights switch-on will be held on Sunday 24th November from 4.30pm to 6pm.

Starting from Glenholme Drive in Crook, The procession will start from Glenholme Drive and include dancers, performers, live music, lanterns and illuminated puppets. The finale includes the Christmas lights switch-on outside the Civic Centre. Free event, produced by Jack Drum Arts.

Spennymoor

The annual Christmas lights switch-on in Spennymoor takes place on Saturday 23rd November at 6.15pm. It will be held in the Market Square in Spennymoor town centre. Entertainment will start at 5.30pm.

During the day Santa will be in his grotto in the Town Hall. A session for quiet visits by appointment is being held from 10.30am to 1.30pm. A drop-in session with no appointment required will be held from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. To book an appointment for the quiet time call 01388 815276.

Durham

The Christmas lights switch-on in the Market Place in Durham will be held on Thursday 28th November between 5.30pm and 6.45pm. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
