Bike sessions promote joy and confidence for children.
Children at County Durham schools are discovering the joy and confidence found in riding
a bike, as part of council-funded sessions.
Delivered in a fun, positive and supportive environment, the sessions form part of Durham
County Council’s Bikeability programme being delivered in schools across the county.
Plus, the council is set to deliver a programme full of free rides, workshops, festivals and
inclusive cycling opportunities as part of Bike Month this May.
NFU Mutual agency to occupy County Durham unit
An insurance company has opened a new base at a Spennymoor business park, with help
from a fund which brings vulnerable buildings back into use.
Durham County Council contributed £50,000 of its Towns and Villages Vulnerable
Buildings Fund to finish the construction and refurbishment of a large unit at Thinford Park.

A scheme which regulates privately rented properties in County Durham could be reviewed.
Durham County Council’s Cabinet will be asked to agree to a consultation to review it’s selective licensing scheme beyond 31 March 2027.
