Website Manager (Volunteer)

Role Purpose

Prince Bishop Community Broadcasting Ltd is a not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee. Bishop FM is seeking a volunteer to manage its website at bishopfm.com.

Activities

This role would suit an individual looking to develop their skills in website design, development and content creation.

  • Creating content on the website
  • Reviewing existing content on the website and updating or removing as required
  • Maintaining the programme schedule with input from the programme director
  • Potential graphic design and photo editing
  • The use of SEO best practices
  • Assisting existing volunteers to create pages for programmes, features, landing pages, etc
  • To continue the enhancement of a good user experience
  • Maintain the brand design and theme
  • Continue the WordPress updates  installation and liaise with the hosting provider to solve technical problems
  • A basic experience with websites and WordPress, or creating content for social media, would be beneficial.

Volunteer Commitment

The role would suit an individual who can volunteer for a few hours per week.

This role can be performed remotely.

Producer (Volunteer)

Role Purpose

Bishop FM is seeking a volunteer producer to assist with on air production, outside broadcasts and studio systems (e.g. playout software).

Activities

This role would suit an individual who is looking to develop their skills in radio and audio production.

  • To plan and assist with the production of audio for on air features and special programmes
  • While creating/editing and scheduling on air audio promos
  • Managing content in playout and scheduling systems (e.g. pre-recorded programmes, promos, imaging (jingles), news, etc)
  • Actively participate in outside broadcasts
  • Assist with the editing and uploading of content to Soundcloud and Mixcloud

A previous experience with Windows and audio or video editing is highly recommended, but training will be provided on the specific software used in the studio.

Volunteer Commitment

This role will be expected to volunteer with other team members.

Many tasks can be performed remotely, but attendance in the studio or at outside broadcast locations will be expected for some events.

It is anticipated the role commitment approx. will be 1 – 3 hours per week, but this is flexible.

Volunteer Technical Support Engineer (Volunteer)

Role Purpose

Bishop FM is seeking a technical support volunteer to assist with the station’s IT and broadcasting systems.

Activities

This role would suit an individual looking to

  • Assist with maintaining the studio hardware, such as PCs and networking equipment
  • Liaise with suppliers of audio and transmission equipment
  • Support with troubleshooting technical issues when they arise

Strong IT skills and familiarity with Windows, networking and remote support tools are expected. A previous experience with audio equipment is desirable, and training on the specific hardware and software used in the studio can be provided.

Volunteer Commitment

The role is predominantly team based with other volunteers.

Several tasks can be performed remotely,  attendance in the studio will be expected in the event of technical issues that can’t be resolved remotely. Attendance may also be called upon at occasional outside broadcasts and recordings.

The role would take a few hours per month, but some tasks may require attention when they arise (e.g. if the equipment is faulty or a technical problem is affecting broadcasts).
