About the Show

Gary has been presenting The Blues Show here at BishopFM for over 16 years and recently passed the landmark of 800 editions of the show. Since winning the Independent Blues Broadcaster of the Year Award in 2012’s British Blues Awards, he has gone on to feature as finalist every year in the UK Blues Awards. Bringing you a mix of modern electric & acoustic blues, older traditional blues & the odd left-field track, Gary only has one rule – “If I don’t like it, I won’t play it”. Alongside the Blues Show, Gary puts together That Country Rock Show, as well as being a seasoned performer & MC on the local & national blues scene.

Two hours of the best blues on the planet

Gary’s Blues Show is broadcast every Sunday from 6 to 9pm, repeated Wednesday at 11pm, and regularly features live studio sessions from some of the region’s best blues musicians, as well as interviews with blues stars from around the world.

All the blues that fits! Acoustic, electric, old, new, American, English, Scottish, Norwegian – it is all here – there are no Blues Police on this show!

Featuring Albums of the Week, studio and live recordings of local bands, local and international interviews too. Recent competition prizes include CDs, DVDs and concert tickets too.

About Gary

I’ve loved music since I was a child and I’ve loved the blues even longer! Listening to the radio introduced me to so many great presenters (Alexis Korner, Mike Raven, John Peel) and many many blues artists.

I have played guitar in many bands, most of them blues or blues influenced, and I currently perform solo acoustic spots featuring blues, country rock and more. I have a blog where I write about The Blues Show (including playlists), guitars, coffee, mustaches and psychedelic socks!

Gary is a member of the newly founded Independent Blues Broadcasters Association whose aim is to promote blues radio across the UK and worldwide and encourage promoters and record labels to use the IBBA as a point of contact.
