About the Show

Join me, Paul Manuel, every Tuesday night on 105.9 Bishop FM for The Rock Show.

The best in rock, metal and thrash spanning the last forty years! Expect everything from the softer side of the rock spectrum like Pat Benatar and Guns N’ Roses to the darker side like Slayer and Behemoth. There are also the best new releases, rarely heard album tracks as well as classics. There is something for rockers and metalheads alike!

Each week there are three tracks from a featured album, and Decades of Rock where I play three tracks back to back from either the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s or the 00’s. Add to that interviews with local up and coming bands and artists already making a name for themselves in the rock world and you have the The Rock Show every Tuesday from 9p ’til midnight… hope you’ll join me there!

Best gig you’ve ever been to?

Download ’09 is up there… my first festival and it was an amazing three days! Trivium, ZZ Top, Black Stone Cherry, Motley Crue, Slipknot, DevilDriver… the list is endless! But Rammstein at the Arena in Newcastle is a very close second. They were absolutely amazing!

First album you bought?

That I’m going to admit to is Meat Loaf’s Bat out of Hell.

How did you get into rock music?

I was watching Top of the Pops (remember that?) and the video for Meat Loaf’s Deadringer came on. I’d never heard anything like it. I borrowed his Bat Out of Hell and Deadringer albums as well as Rainbow and Deep Purple albums from my cousin and that was it – I was hooked! After that I grew up listening to Tommy Vance, Alan Freeman and Alan Robson’s Hot and Heavy Express and my love for the music just grew from there.

What song would you advise someone to listen to that sums up rock?

AC/DC – Let There Be Rock. Just about says it all!
