Public asked for views on Market Place

Members of the public are to be asked for their views on plans for the Market Place in Bishop Auckland.

The next phase of the regeneration project in the town centre of Bishop Auckland will is scheduled to begin next month.

At an event at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, representatives from Durham County Council will be on hand for a number of face-to-face opportunities, while the proposals for the next environmental improvements will go on display.

Durham County Council project manager, Chris Myers, says it’s an important opportunity for residents, shoppers and businesses.

“We know how passionately many people feel about this historic town centre and that’s why we want them to take this chance to tell us what they would like to see.”

The public exhibition will start on Monday, 13th September for one week. Officers from the council will attend the event at various times throughout the week, and all day Wednesday.

Subject to the outcome of the exhibition, proposed works are planned to start on Monday, 25th October for a four week period.
